Dawn White joined the WHAG-TV news team as a general assignment reporter in February of 2010.
Before coming to WHAG-TV, Dawn worked as an assignment editor for two years at WPMT FOX43 in Harrisburg, Pa. and was promoted to weekend assignment editor. She interned at FOX43 and spent a summer interviewing political figures at Cox Television Washington Bureau on Capitol Hill.
Dawn worked as a reporter and anchor at the Capital News Service in 2007 and won three regional Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards while working at the station. She received a first place award in television feature reporting, two second place awards for television breaking news reporting and television news photography, and a second place radio news reporting award for her coverage of the 2006 Maryland gubernatorial race at WMUC 88.1 FM.
Dawn graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, with a certificate in Women's Studies. She was a recipient of the Kappa Tau Alpha Journalism Honor Society 2007 Outstanding Academic Achievement Award. She received several scholarships, including the Steven Affens Broadcast Journalism Scholarship for Photojournalism.
Before becoming a Terp, Dawn graduated Summa Cum Laude from Carroll Community College and won the 2005 President's Academic Excellence Award, as well as a 2005 award for Meritorious Scholarship and Excellence in Higher Education from Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich. She lived in Carroll County, Maryland, for five years. She was an avid public speaker and co-captain of the Speech Team.
Dawn is a proud member of the Native American Journalists Association and the Society of Professional Journalists.
When Dawn isn't working for you, she loves all type of fitness, including swimming, running, and biking, in addition to photography and music. Dawn is a former competitive swimmer, figure skater, and is a classically-trained pianist.
Dawn loves spending time with her son David and fianc Eric. They have two rabbits, a lionhead named Teddy and a black dutch named Roosevelt. They adopted a shelter rescue dog, a boxador named Rocky. Dawn works as the meet manager and newsletter chair for her son's swim team, the Lion Aquatic Club.
