Hand-Made European Collections
VISIONS offers hand-made collections from Italy, France and Germany, as well as a hand-painted plastic collection from Israel.
ITALY: From the beginning, our premier flagship collection has been the Casanova, DolceVita and Taxi collections from Studio 3 Occhiali. They are the most distinctive and unique, and are reminiscent of fine custom-designed, hand-crafted jewelry...They embody "The Art of Eyewear".
Because they are so special, twice a year (the first Saturday in June - Frederick's Festival of the Arts weekend, and the first Saturday in November - Frederick's Open House weekend), VISIONS hosts a very special event: a Trunk Show, to which the owner/designer of the Studio 3 Occhiali collections brings to VISIONS ALL of the collections' amazing styles/colors from which our customers can choose.
FRANCE: Our two hand-made collections from France both include bold and sophisticated designs and colors in metal (incl. titanium), plastic, and combinations of both.
GERMANY: Our two hand-made German collections are decidedly different from the Italian and French collections AND from one other... One offers slightly more traditional designs (some in titanium), but with unique details, such as wooden temples...The other offers more dramatic shapes, as well as some very unusual rimless designs.
ISRAEL: These are fun and funky multi-colored hand-painted plastic frames that can be special-ordered in an almost endless variety of frame styles/paint color combinations.

Other Eyewear Collections
VISIONS offers other premium (but not hand-made) eyewear collections from Italy, France, Scandinavia, Japan, Canada, and the US.
Italy: Vanni metal and plastic and combination designs include etched frame-fronts, distinctive temple treatments.
France: These are smaller collections, but still have that French "je ne sais quoi"!
Italy/Japan: The Bellagio/Kashiyama collections are our most moderate price-point collections, and include a wide variety of interesting styles/colors for men and women, primarily in metal.
Scandinavia: These collections include titanium, metal and plastic designs, generally cut a little wider for faces with broad cheekbones that can be so hard to find a proper fit for.
Canada: These collections are new and represent bold creativity...Spectacles Eyeworks and Reflections by Traff include both men's and women's styles, while "Pussy Galore" designs are definitely feminine, with a sprinkling of small pearls/crystals or genuine cloisonne' on the temples.
US: This is a very small collection of quirky petite frames.

"HERE COMES THE SUN!": Rx Sun-Clip Sets; Custom Sun-Clips; Non-Custom Sun-Clips; Sun-Glasses
Magnetic Sets:
VISIONS carrys a small selection of magetic frame/polarized sun-clip sets, but with a "twist" -- literally... These have temples that can flip to show two different designs on each temple-- one side more subtle and the other with more pizazz... Fun & Functional!
Custom Polarized Sun-Clips:
VISIONS offers two manufacturers of CUSTOM MADE polarized sun-clips...Your frame and Rx determines which one is recommended. In both cases your frame/lenses are sent to California for this precision process.
NOTE: A COMPUTER custom clip can also be made to turn your single-vision distance glasses into computer or near-vision glasses "on demand".
Non-Custom Polarized Sun-Clips are also available (mostly by special order) in a variety of general shapes and three sun lens colors plus "shooting" yellow.
Sun-Glasses:
VISIONS can create polarized Rx sunglasses from some non-Rx sunglass frames (NOT the deeply-curved styles,) as well as from many regular frames.
Also available are unique imported non-Rx sunglasses, many/most with polarized lenses, including a (mostly men's) group by Polaroid.

Rimless Titanium Collection - Kazuo Kawasaki
Kawasaki's modular design, which we feel is the best because of its screwless mounting, allows customers to choose from several 3-pc. chassis designs in a wide variety of colors, paired with any of the over 80 different lens shapes/sizes (or create your own custom shape/size).
VISIONS currently has limited inventory samples of the classic original chassis model 631 in various finishes and lens shapes/sizes.
Newly available in our inventory is a sample of the now famous "SarahPalin" model 704, a bolder, more modern design than the 631, and available in an exciting array of colors, and temple finishes/textural treatments.
VISIONS does suggest that when considering a drilled rimless design, the following be kept in mind:
Drilled designs require that special lens materials must be used, which may be more expensive (and may not have the same level of visual clarity) than your Rx might otherwise require.
Drilled designs must be handled/cleaned more carefully and should be removed with TWO HANDS...They are NOT for off-and-on use...Transitions lenses are recommended to address sun-shading
Drilled designs are assembled by the manufacturer in California, not in-house, so any lens changes require that they be sent away for up to 2 weeks...
Modular means that you can virtually design your own glasses... BUT, you must be able to think/envision in the abstract, since there may be no actual sample for you to look at before ordering.

Rx Lenses / Lens Products
All Lenses Are Not Created Equal.
VISIONS offers many premium brands of single vision, bi-focal, tri-focal and progressive multi-focal lens products... in clear, Transitions, or polarized sun... in standard plastic or, (for those with stronger Rx's), in any of the full range of thinner, lighter higher-index materials. (Note: VISIONS generally avoids polycarbonate lenses in favor of other materials with the same positive attributes, because of "poly's" low rank on the visual acuity scale.)
Our premium lens brands include Seiko, Shamir, Essilor/Varilux, American Optical and Zeiss.
We also offer/recommend Carl Zeiss anti-reflective coating for improved vision and a better look. (Zeiss, reknown for its microscope, telescope, and binocular lenses, invented the process for its camera lenses.) Also available is the upgraded Crizal/Alizee family of A/R processes which are more scratch-resistant, require less cleaning, and come with an extended 2-yr. warranty.
VISIONS can offer a wide variety of Progressive multi-focal lens designs tailored to meet your Rx and functional needs; In addition we take the steps necessary to ensure a successful progressive experience, including pre-measurement frame adjustments.
For first-time progressive wearers (usually age 45-50), we also take extra care to establish realistic expectations and then, upon delivery, provide a brief orientation session to ease them into their use.
Most lens cutting is done in-house.
