Fire Severely Damages House in Ringgold

- WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - Investigators with the Maryland State Fire Marshal are trying to figure out what sparked a fire that severely damaged a house in Ringgold.  

The blaze was reported around 7:54 p.m. Thursday night at a home on 14315 Barkdoll Road. They say the fire started outside on the porch. 

When crews arrived on the scene, the two-story home was fully engulfed in flames. It took close to three hours to extinguish the fire. 

A total of 46 firefighters responded from multiple companies including Leitersburg, Smithsburg, Mt. Aetna, Long Meadow, Air and Rehab Unit, Special Ops. 20, Waynesboro, Co. 2, Adams Co. PA, Blue Ridge Summit PA. 

Fire officials say smoke alarms were present inside the house, but are unsure if they activated. 

No injuries were reported, but damages are estimated to be around $110,000. 

Officials with the State Fire Marshal say the house is a total loss, and the family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
