"Each year we get dispatched for different calls on kids setting off fireworks or even grownups," said Richard Petry of the Bunk Hill Fire Company.
Needless to say, with Firework Season upon us, Firefighters have their work cut out for them - and the heat is no help.
Dry heat can cause brush or grass fires when fireworks are not discharged properly, which is why many distributors have taken on educational programs.
All employees at State Line Fireworks in Bunker Hill, are given the opportunity to view their products in action so that they can better assist their customers in how to be safe while using them.
It's also important to do your research when it comes to local laws. For example, fireworks might be legal in your state, but deemed illegal within your town or neighborhood limits.
In West Virginia, firework outlets are only allowed to sell to out-of-state customers, and most of the Four State has height restrictions for how high they can be launched.
"There is very little in this state that is legal to discharge, it's better to go to a controlled area and enjoy it that way rather than do it in your own yard," added Petry.
Although, if you are set on putting on your own light show, don't try and buy discounted goods. Knock-off brands can be illegal and highly destructive.
