Electronic map helps you avoid construction

This year's map is drastically improved, officials say

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. - Construction season is upon us, but it doesn't have to impact your commute.

The Maryland State Highway Administration recently released a map to help you navigate around construction zones. This summer, the Maryland Department of Transportation will reach a record number of construction projects. The E-Road Ready application highlights 165 of those projects across Maryland's 23 counties.

Officials say this year, technology for the map has drastically improved. You can enter in your address and projects in the area will appear. You also have the option to view just the county where you live.

"Once you click on one of those construction barrels, it'll give you all kinds of information including the limits, the scope of the project, and also what to expect, whether it's single, double lane closures, a summer detour," said Charlie Gischlar with SHA.

All you have to do is go to roads.maryland.gov and click on E-Road Ready.
