Girl Scouts are celebrating their 100th year of selling cookies

Local Girl Scouts have sold hundreds of cookies in one month

GERMANTOWN, Md. - It’s the season for Girl Scout cookies and they celebrated their 100th year of the first known sale of cookies by Girl Scouts.

Local Girl Scout cadets in Montgomery County sold nearly 1,000 cookies in just one month and this is the last week to get grab a box of their famous cookies. There is also a cookie finder app that will help you find the nearest scouts selling cookies. The cadets, who were scouts for many years, say they are proud to be active in their community.

"It’s exciting, it’s really interesting because we get to see all the cookies and how they change and just being a part of it is really interesting, an exciting thing to be a part of" says Brenna Pagliarulo, Girl Scout Cadet.

The girls are planning to earn their silver award which is earned after helping their community. The money raised goes to Girl Scout troops and the Girl Scout Council of Washington D.C.
