New bike share station installed at Shady Grove metro stop

The bikes have a top speed of about 13 miles per hour

Rockville, Md. - Montgomery County commuters can now find another bike share station after the newest one was installed Tuesday at the Shady Grove metro stop.

The bike share program has gained popularity, as this is the 67th station to be built across Montgomery County.

The newest station has 19 bikes available to rent at the metro stops eastern entrance.

Each of the bikes are meant for durability and security, as they all come equipped with GPS tracking chips to prevent theft.

A single 30 minute trip on one of the bikes costs $2 while $8 gets you a 24 hour pass.

"You’ll be seen on the road,” said bicyle enthusiast Ray Atkinson. "It has lights in the front and back that are pedal powered and it has a front rack area to put your brief case on it or groceries to secure things."

The bikes have a top speed of about 13 miles per hour.
