SILVER SPRING, Md. -
Montgomery County Police Department Detectives have made two more arrests in their investigation into the death of 24-year-old Sulaiman Jalloh.
Twenty-three-year-old James Polk Jackson has been charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery.
He is currently being held without bond as is 22-year-old Antonio Ortiz, the brother of Ruben Ortiz, who was earlier arrested in this investigation.
Antonio Ortiz was also charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery.
Jackson, the Ortiz brothers and Shanee Collette Cox allegedly assaulted, stabbed and robbed Sulaiman Jalloh at the Days Inn at Silver Spring last month following a marijuana deal that had gone bad.
After the assault, Jalloh went back to his hotel room, and police were called.
Jalloh was transported to and succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
Two suspects of a Silver Spring homicide are being held without bond, after police charged the boyfriend and girlfriend with first-degree murder and armed robbery.
Twenty-year-old Ruben Ortiz and 19-year-old Shanee Cox were arrested for their connection to the death of Sulaiman Jalloh on Sunday morning.
Montgomery County Police said Jalloh and his friends robbed Ortiz of his sneakers and cash on Saturday night at the Days Inn on 13th Street. Cox witnessed the incident.
The next morning, Ortiz, Cox and their friends assaulted Jalloh, according to court documents, stabbing, robbing and ultimately killing him.
Family members of Ortiz and Cox tearfully stood in court Tuesday, urging the judge to set a bond since both suspects have children to take care of.
"Anytime there's a scene where violence takes place and a person is killed, there's a need to protect the community. Being held on no bond certainly addresses that need,” said Ramon Korionoff, Director of Public Affairs, Montgomery County's State's Attorney's Office.
Cox has no previous convictions, but Ortiz has appeared in juvenile court several times.
In Silver Spring, two people have been charged with first-degree murder in connection to a weekend murder.
Twenty-year-old Ruben Ortiz and 19-year-old Shanee Cox were charged with first-degree murder and robbery relating to the death of Sulaiman Jalloh on Sunday morning. Both suspects were arrested around 10 p.m. last night.
Montgomery County Police said Jalloh and his friends robbed Ortiz and Cox on Saturday night at the Days Inn on 13th Street. Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, police said Ortiz, Cox and their friends assaulted Jalloh, stabbing and robbing him.
Jalloh was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Ortiz and Cox are being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center without bond.
Montgomery County Police are investigating a murder that happened in Silver Spring.
Police said around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, they received a call about a disturbance in the parking lot of the Days Inn on 13th Street.
When they arrived, they found a 24-year-old man suffering from life-threatening trauma to his body. He was taken the hospital where he died.
Police said the victim left his room around 2:30 a.m., and witnesses reported that he was assaulted by a group in the parking lot.
