Man Arrested After Breaking into Multiple Homes, Vehicles

BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office arrested a local man after they said he broke into numerous homes and vehicles.

Deputies said on Friday, July 25 they responded to a complaint of a suspicious person walking along Willis Drive in the Elizabeth Station Sub-Division. 

Upon arrival, deputies saw a man walking in the area carrying two bags. They identified him as Kenneth Wayde Silvius and discovered stolen property within the bags. 

Through the course of the investigation, police found out Silvius had entered one residence on Willis Drive and attempted to enter a second home, however, a woman was able to shut the door before he attempted to enter. 

Berkeley County Central Dispatch advised to deputies they were also receiving calls in the neighboring Sub-Division Sylvan Grove, in reference to vehicles being broken into and further tampered with. 

Officers found 11 different vehicles were tampered with and contacted the vehicle owners.

Police also responded to an additional home break-in in the Sylvan Grove Sub-Division. The investigation showed that the suspect forced entry into the house to find the resident home before fleeing the scene. 

Silvius was placed under arrest for the daytime burglary of the two homes in the Elizabeth Station Sub-Division and for the additional daytime burglary in the Sylvan Grove Sub-Division. 

Silvius is being held on a $60,000 bond. Deputies said further charges are pending.
