Deputies searching for suspect who burglarized liquor store, stole car

The suspect allegedly broke glass to store and stole beer, cigarettes and cash

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - A shirtless man broke into Rosewood Liquors off of John F. Kennedy Drive this morning shortly before police said he also alleged stole a car.

The suspect allegedly broke the glass to the store at 7:13 a.m. and stole beer, cigarettes and cash.

About 45 minutes later, deputies were called to a nearby apartment complex for a stolen Oldsmobile. After the caller provided a brief description, police determined that the car thief was the same person who committed the burglary. A short time later, the car was found abandoned in downtown Hagerstown.

Police added that the suspect was heavily bleeding from a cut to his arm during his crimes.

"We can't be everywhere. The community is our eyes and ears, and that's why we get these kinds of things that take place. We like to get the information pushed out as quickly as possible, so we can get these individuals identified,” said Deputy Carly Hose, Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe that the suspect was in his mid 20's to 30's.
