HAGERSTOWN, Md. - You're used to seeing us behind the desk, but on Friday we got our hands dirty for a good cause.
Once again, WHAG employees participated in Founders Day of Caring, an initiative started by our parent company, Nexstar.
Each year we volunteer for a worthy nonprofit. This year, we chose the Star Equestrian Center that specializes in horse therapy for veterans and people dealing with mental and physical disabilities.
Reporters, salesmen and our general manager, Hugh Breslin, spent the day building a new sensory trail that will engage both riders and horses.
"We're very used to using volunteers, because volunteers are -- I mean, we used about 60 volunteers a week to run our program,” said Ginny Reed, Equestrian Center director.
Over 30 of our employees rolled their sleeves up to build the trail. We'll be checking back in with Star when the project is complete.
