Four-State residents celebrate spring with sweet treats

Spring has sprung in the Northern Hemisphere

HAGERSTOWN, Md. -

Spring has sprung here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Despite the chilly weather, residents of the Four-State region haven't allowed that to dampen their celebrations, embracing some free, sweet treats.

On Monday, Dairy Queen was open at multiple locations and offered free ice cream in honor of the first day of spring. Rita's Italian Ice was also open for their 25th annual First Day of Spring celebration, where they offered free Italian ice.

"We like to go out and enjoy the spring weather. It's his [referring to her one-year-old son] first time having a Rita's water ice," said Waynesboro resident Cathy Eckstein, who was accompanied by her two young children.
