FREDERICK, Md. - For decades, April 20 has been regarded as an unofficial holiday for marijuana.
This year's 4/20 has a special significance for marijuana in Maryland.
Earlier this month, Maryland’s medical marijuana registry was open for patients to get their licenses.
Although no dispensaries have opened quite yet in Maryland, Green Health Docs officials estimate they will be slammed with licenses request around July, when the first dispensary is expected to pop up.
Today, they celebrated 4/20 with a cake.
"We're here to stomp out the opiate problem [and] the opiate epidemic. We're here to present protocols to help wean people from their opiates and their psych meds, and they're more than ready,” said Michel La Doucier, CEO, Green Health Docs.
If you plan on applying for a medical marijuana license, you may want to do that now. Officials expect a rush once dispensaries in the state open.
