Woman arrested for chasing people with a machete

Suspect told police the machete was for self-defense

CUMBERLAND, Md. - A 25-year old woman reportedly chased people with a machete in Cumberland Saturday.

Victims told officers that Samantha Kirkpatrick went into her house and grabbed a machete after a group of four people began to argue.  Kirkpatrick allegedly came out and threatened one person with the weapon.  Everyone then left the area.  Kirkpatrick told police the machete was for self-defense.

Officers did confiscate the weapon. 

She is being charged with first and second degree assault and disorderly conduct and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
