Mother Faces Charges After Leaving Young Children Unattended

FULTON COUNTY, Pa. - A Hustontown mother is facing charges after state police say she left her two young children unattended, putting them in potential dangerous situations.

Pennsylvania State Police say the incident happened on May 13, 2014 along N. Clear Ridge Road in Taylor Township.

They say the accused's 7-year-old son was found unattended and sleeping in her vehicle in the parking lot area of the apartments around midnight. Her 2-year-old daughter was found inside the home restrained in a child seat with a large stuffed animal over her face and body, posing a potential situation for the child not being able to breathe, police say.

Both children involved were not hurt during these events, according to state police.

The accused, identified as Johanna Dawn Snyder, 35, of Hustontown, Pa., was unaware of both situations involving her children due to being passed out after taking prescription medications. She faces two counts of endangering the welfare of children. The charges were filed in District Court.
