MSO Raises Goal of $50,000 for Salute to Independence

SHARPSBURG, MD - The Maryland Symphony Orchestra announced Monday that it has met its goal of $50,000 for the annual Salute to Independence.

At the end of March, the MSO announced that the Salute may not happen after losing some sponsors.

After the announcement, the MSO said they received donations even on the other side of the country.  New corporate sponsors also stepped up, such as FirstEnergy Foundation.

The salute will continue to go as planned for Saturday July 2nd, and according to MSO, the Salute is estimated to bring in close to a million dollars in the community.

"Absolutely ecstatic. I cant imagine fourth of july not celebrating it on hallowed ground for the people that fought for us."
