HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Washington County Board of County Commissioners announced Tuesday the approval of a $300,000 conditional loan to support the expansion of a local business.

National Golden Tissue plans to use the loan for additional space at their facility located at 19224 Longmeadow Road and increased production in Hagerstown.

Once acquired and the space renovated, officials with NGT say they expect to retain 70 jobs, while creating 120 additional full-time positions.

In a written release, Washington County Board of County Commisioners President Terry Baker stated, "National Golden Tissue has continued to grow and substantially increase jobs in our community in a challenging way."

Established in Washington County in 2008, NGT manufactures paper towels, bath and facial tissue, and napkins. The family-owned company is managed by brothers, Ghassem Shahrooz and Mahmood Shahrooz, who officials say each have more than 20 years of experience in the paper and manufacturing industry.
