Aerial Hoist Performed By MSP Chopper

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va - On Wednesday evening, Loudoun County Fire/EMS Officials requested Maryland State Police Aviation Command assistance in the rescue of an injured National Park Ranger located on a high angle portion of the Appalachian Trail.
Trooper 3, the MSP helicopter based in Frederick, Maryland, was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arriving, Trooper-3 landed and performed an aerial rescue with the aircraft’s hoist.
Once the victim was secured in the aircraft, his injuries were assessed by onboard medics.
The ranger was taken to an area hospital for assessment. No word yet on his current condition.
