FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - People gathered Sunday for a special benefit event that's been taking place every year for more than a decade.

The Anne-Lynn Gross Breast Cancer Resource Center at Frederick Community College held its 11th annual "Op to Pop" benefit auction and concert Sunday afternoon.

The show features singers and musicians from all over Maryland performing musical selections from familiar favorites to opera classics.

The event aims to gain support and raise public awareness about the treatment, support groups, and other services available to cancer sufferers through FCC.

"Anne-Lynn founded the resource center about 13 years ago to have a centralized location for people with breast cancer to come and do some research about treatment options, conventional, non-conventional," said Janice Brown, director of adult services at FCC.

All proceeds from the event are used to provide literature, educate people, and fund scholarships for students challenged with a cancer diagnosis.
