Bills to Improve PA Child Protection Laws

- PENNSYLVANIA - Governor Tom Corbett signed three bills Monday that his administration says will provide improvements to the state's child protection laws.

Corbet signed house bills 89 and 316, as well as Senate bill 24. The Senate bill created a statewide database, and allows for electric reporting of child abuse.

The House bills redirect money to the Children's Advocacy Center and establishes a committee to approve grants.

"Earlier today I had the opportunity to sign several child protection bills into law that will improve the reporting of suspected child abuse. Will coordinate that reporting better to create that state-wide database containing the files on all abuse of neglect allegations lodged against an individual," said Gov. Tom Corbett.

Corbett signed the laws Monday and spoke to a crowd that gathered in support of the issue.
