City of Winchester, Virginia Appoints New Fire & Rescue Chief

FREDERICK COUNTY, VIRGINIA (WHAG) - Winchester, VA City Manager Dale Iman has appointed Allen Baldwin as the Winchester Fire & Rescue Chief.

Chief Baldwin comes to the City of Winchester from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania with more than 25 years experience in fire & rescue, code enforcement, and emergency management, which includes 15 years of command experience with both volunteer and combination departments.

"Chief Baldwin has extensive leadership experience in fire and rescue as well as working with local governments," says Dale Iman, Winchester City Manager.  "We expect he will be a great compliment to the strong leadership and dedicated team of volunteers and career staff currently serving with the Winchester Fire & Rescue Department."

Before coming to Winchester, Chief Baldwin served as the Chief of the Gettysburg Volunteer Department since January 2012, and as Director of Operations, Safety and Incident Response for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission since March 2001.

The Winchester Fire and Rescue Department Chief position became vacant when Scott Cullers retired.  Former Chief Frank Wright served as interim chief since February 25th.
