WEST VIRGINIA - U.S. forestry officials say about 50 percent of the Monongahela National Forest fire is contained.

Close to 200 firefighters are actively working on putting out the blaze. Officials say the emergency closure is still in place, restricting access to areas near the Smoke Hole. This 1600 acre fire was first reported last Sunday.

What started the fire is still under investigation. Officials say the area will be closed for 120 days.

Anyone violating this closure could be fined between $500 and $1,000.
