Crews Respond to Fire at Vacant Duplex

CUMBERLAND, Md - The Cumberland Fire Department responded to a vacant duplex at the 300 block of Jefferson Street shortly after 6 a.m. on Saturday.

The fire started on the rear porch of 310 Jefferson Street and quickly extended into 312 Jefferson Street, according to Deputy Chief Bobby Long. 

"The fire is of suspicious nature," Long said.

Along with the Cumberland Fire Department, the Bowling Green Fire Department, Wiley Ford Volunteer Fire Department, and Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene. 

This incident remains under investigation.
