Officials with the Washington County Board of Elections stress the importance of being registered and then to actually vote.
"It is just so important to be registered and go vote. Unless you are registered to vote then you really can't cast your vote for whoever you would like to be in office," says Washington County Board of Elections Director Kaye Robucci.
The deadlines and requirements may vary from state to state.
"Also keep in mind with the ballot this year we have the city of Hagerstown mayor and council races for those city residence. And there are seven ballot questions for county residents with a total of eight for the city because there is one ballot question. So lots to vote for," says Robucci.
In Pennsylvania voter registration deadline is October 9th, voter absentee ballots are due November 2nd, and there is no early voting.
In West Virginia voter registration deadline is October 16th, voter absentee ballots are due November 13th, and early voting begins October 24th.
In Maryland voter registration deadline is October 16th, the last day to request an absentee ballot is October 30th, and early voting runs from October 27th to November 2nd.
