WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating a string of reported thefts from motor vehicles over the past several days.

Deputies said 11 theft reports have been taken from the Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown area. The thefts are believed to have occurred during the overnight hours.

They said in the majority of these incidents the vehicles were left unlocked. Deputies want to remind residents to lock their vehicle doors.

The Sheriff's Office would also like to remind residents to remove items of value from their vehicles. They said if you chose to leave items of value in your vehicle, make sure the item is well hidden from sight. They said even as something as simple as spare change can attract the attention of a would-be thief.

If you witness suspicious activity or have information on these recent thefts, you're asked to call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at (301)-791-3020.
