Driver Arrested For Possession of Marijuana

FROSTBURG, Md. - On Friday at approximately 9:22 p.m., Corporal N. Costello of the Frostburg Police Department pulled a car over for not yielding the right-of-way to another car at an intersection on Center Street.

The officer found three people inside the car, and smelled marijuana from inside. Corporal R. Grimm and Patrolman A. Zapf later assisted on the scene.

The officers searched the car and the three people. Officers found a baggie containing approximately 15 grams of suspected marijuana in the driver's pants leg. The driver is identified as Dennell Eric Hines, 19, of Fort Washington, Maryland. Hines also did not have a driver's license.

Hines was placed under arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, driving without a driver's license and failure to stop and yield right-of-way at an intersection.

Hines was taken before a District Court Commissioner and was released on his own recognizance.

Frostburg State University Police also assisted at the scene of the stop.
