This incident happened around 8:29 a.m. at the intersection of Stauffer Road and Woodsboro Pike.
Preliminary information indicates the school bus was traveling north on Woodsboro Pike when it was struck just in front of the rear wheels by a vehicle traveling east on Stauffer Road. The back end of the bus then swerved into the southbound lanes of Woodsboro Pike, striking a third vehicle.
The Frederick County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reports three adults, the drivers of the vehicles involved, and 11 children students from the bus were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
There were 26 elementary school students on the bus at the time of the accident. Of the remaining children not transported to the hospital, one was released to a parent and 15 students were taken to school.
Six ambulances dispatched to the scene, along with one rescue squad and two engines. The investigation continues to determine the cause of the accident. No charges have been filed at this point.
Deputies say all injuries were minor in nature, and most were just for a checkup and evaluation. Advanced life support services were never requested or needed. About two hours earlier, there was another accident at the same location also involving a Frederick County School bus with no injuries reported. That incident also remains under investigation. The two incidents are unrelated other than both involving school buses.
