WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - Fire officials are investigating an early morning house fire in Hagerstown.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday at a single family home on the 600 block of Potomac Avenue. Officials were asking drivers to avoid the area earlier Friday morning. Officials with the Fire Marshals Office were on the scene investigating all day. They say they still have not determined what caused the blaze.

Crews from the Hagerstown Fire Department and multiple agencies worked for just under an hour to get the blaze under control.

Officials say close to 40 firefighters responded. One person was injured in the fire and taken to Meritus Medical Center.

The two story home has smoke damage and broken out window, and yellow tape has been posted around the property.
