FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - A fire early Friday morning heavily damaged a Point of Rocks home. Officials with Frederick County Fire and Rescue said they were called to the house at 12:12 a.m. located in the 4600 block of Old Licksvilke Road.

Fire arriving units reported the two-story home was fully engulfed in flames. Due to the heavy fire conditions, the Incident Commander on scene quickly requested additional units and crews, according to Captain Kevin Fox, spokesperson with Division of Fire and Rescue Services.

It took 50 firefighters about two hours to bring the fire under control. Two residents were home at the time of the fire, but were able to escape. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.

Fire Marshals were on the scene to determined the origin and cause of the fire. It remains under investigation by the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office.

Initial damage estimates place the total loss at $250,000.
