Flash Flood Watch Issued For Most of Area Through Tuesday Afternoon

- HAGERSTOWN, MD (WHAG) - After a few storms on Monday Night, some heavy rainfall is on the way to the area for Overnight Monday into Tuesday Morning.

The National Weather Service in State College, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Baltimore/Washington, D.C. has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the following counties in the WHAG Viewing Area:

Garrett County, MD - 11:00 AM Tuesday
All Southern Pennsylvania Counties - 1:00 PM Tuesday
All Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia Counties (EXCEPT Page, Shenandoah & Warren Counties) through 3:00 PM Tuesday.

An area of heavy rain has developed over the Upper Ohio Valley & North Central West Virginia, that is tracking into our region, and will move through and into the Baltimore & Washington, D.C. Metro Areas just in time for the morning commute.  This area of rain is capable of producing 2 to 3 inches of rain in less than three hours. 

This kind of rain could produce flash flooding in a very short amount of time. Remember, do not attempt to cross roads with water of unknown depth. It only takes less than 6 inches of water to move a vehicle. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
