FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - A man who worked as a butler for three former Presidents took time out of his day on Thursday to speak with senior citizens at a retirement home in Frederick.

Alan DeValerio worked at the White House during the Reagan, Carter and Bush Sr. administrations.

During his time at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, DeValerio got to spend time with the first families and meet several high profile people.

On Thursday, he shared some of those memories and artifacts he collected with people at the Country Meadows Retirement Community.

"The most exciting night for me was a dinner upstairs in the family quarters. We didn't get to work in the family quarters that often and it was much different than working downstairs on the first floor, much more relaxed. Secret Service was not around," said Alan DeValerio.

During most of his time in the White House, his boss was Eugene Allen, on whose life the movie "The Butler" was based on.
