Former Youth Coach Arrested for Soliciting Minor for Sex

- WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - A former youth soccer coach is in custody for allegedly soliciting a 14-year-old girl for sex.

John Michael Hejduk, 42, of Cascade, Md., is facing multiple charges including sexually soliciting a minor, furnishing alcoholic beverages to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a child.

On Feb. 5, 2014 deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office received a tip that the teenage girl has been receiving alcoholic beverages by her assistant soccer coach, Hejduk. After further investigation, deputies discovered Hejduk had inappropriate sexual conversations with the juvenile.

Police arrested Hejduk after they say they sent text messages to him, posing as the young girl. They say he talked about performing sexual acts with her in response to those messages.

On Feb. 9, 2014 Hejduk was taken into custody at the girls home, where police say he intended to meet her.

"At this time it is considered an isolated incident, and like with anything we encourage parents to have an open line of communication with their children if they suspect something is going wrong. If they have those open lines of communication, then they can contact the proper authority," said Deputy First Class Carly Hose, Washington County Sheriff's Office.

He's currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
