WINCHESTER, Va. - Frederick County Public Works is hosting their Annual Community Spring Cleaning Shred Event.
"Spring Cleaning Community Shred is a great time to clear out the clutter from you attic or your basement or your file cabinets,” said Gloria Puffinburger, the Solid Waste Manager for Frederick County’s Public Works Department. “It's right after tax time, and a way to get rid of those personal records that have a lot of sensitive information on them."
The event is celebrating its seventh year, making it the longest running shredding recycling event in the area.
Community Shred is open and free to any individuals in the four-state area.
"This event is available, free of charge, to anyone in the four-state area. The business rate is also open to all businesses, and that rate is $0.10 per pound, but for the residents, it's free,” said Puffingburger.
They'll also be destroying electronic data, like hard drives and USB's.
"We'll also offer hard drive destruction at this event, and that will be free as well, because electronic data must be protected," Puffingburger said.
Last fall's community shred recycled over 7,000 pounds of paper, and over 150 pounds of metal
The event will be held April 7 from to , and will be located on the corner of Martinsburg Pike and
