Hagerstown Man Faces Assault Charges in Rifle Incident

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - A Hagerstown man is facing numerous charges after deputies said he threatened two other men with a rifle. 

The incident happened on Thursday, August 21, 2014 around 6:30 p.m. along the 8500 block of Mountain Laurel Road in Boonsboro. 

The man, later identified as Mark Allen Rudy, 49, was arguing with the two other men. The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Rudy proceeded to grab a rifle and point it at one of the men. 

One of the men than ran from the area on foot. During the course of the argument with the remaining man, Rudy fired the rifle. He later left the area in his vehicle. 

Deputies said they were able to take Rudy into custody at his home. 

He's charged with two counts of first and second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, and one count of using a firearm during the commission of a felony. 

Rudy was held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond. He has since posted bond and been released.
