HAGERSTOWN, Md. - A head-on collision Sunday afternoon in Hagerstown sent one man to Baltimore Shock Trauma.

Maryland State Police said it happened on the southbound lane of Route 632, near Sterling Road.

John Walls, of Hagerstown, was driving his Pontiac Grand Prix when he turned off of eastbound Sterling Road and began driving north in the southbound lanes of 632. Cheyenne Clever, of Sharpsburg, was traveling in that lane and was unable to avoid Walls, resulting in the collision.

Cheyenne's passenger, Gary Clever, was trapped inside the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Baltimore Shock Trauma for treatment via helicopter.

The investigation is ongoing. Troopers said alcohol was a contributing factor. No charges have been filed at this time.
