Irish Theme Alive & Kicking At Local Restaurant

St__Patty_s_Day_Sunday182008-03-16-1205707743.jpgTHURMONT, MD – It’s the time of year to don your green and celebrate the luck of the Irish.

The people at Shamrock Restaurant still celebrate it as if they were in Ireland.

"When you look across our dining room, there are 40 shades of green. People are in a good mood, it’s almost like Christmas time again," said Donna Demmon, Shamrock Restaurant.

The restaurant celebrates with authentic Irish music, contests, merchandise, and even Irish food like corn beef and cabbage.
“We will cook close to three quarters of a ton of corn beef alone," said Demmon.

"I have people of different color, different race that celebrate St Patty’s Day. And, it’s always said that everybody has a little bit of Irish stuck in their closet anyhow be it ancestors or just wannabes. So, everybody is Irish," said Demmon.

"Everybody’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day," said Kathleen Anne O’leary, customer.

"I’m not 100% sure, I don’t think I’m 50%, but if you take what’s in my heart, and my spirit, it’s 150%," said Demmon.

As they say in Ireland, there are no strangers here, only friends who have not met yet. The Shamrock Restaurant is located in Thurmont off Route 15.
