- FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - A Jefferson man has been arrested on two outstanding Sheriff's Office warrants related to thefts.

Robert W. Dryman, 46, was taken into custody around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 by the Frederick County Bureau of Investigation.

Deputies say on Wednesday they received information that Dryman was driving a rental car, which was a white Chevy Malibu with Pennsylvania registration, and it was due to return to the company.

Police were in the area of Buckeystown Pike and Francis Scott Key Drive searching for Dryman when they spotted a vehicle matching the description of the Chevy in the Enterprise parking lot.

Deputies say Sgt. Byers approached the vehicle, believing the driver to be Dryman. He saw Dryman inside the car sticking a needle into his leg. Sgt. Byers ordered Dryman to drop the needle. Dryman then placed the car in reverse and drove backward striking the front of Sgt. Byer's unmarked police vehicle.

He then fled north on Buckeystown Pike.

Deputies say Sgt. Byers chased Dryman's vehicle to the Costco parking lot. Once in the parking lot, Dryman exited his vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Dryman was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

Deputies say Dryman was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. Upon his release from the hospital, Dryman was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center's Central Booking Unit for processing.

After the arrest, FCBI obtained a third warrant for Dryman on charging of fleeing an eluding, fleeing and eluding on foot, hit and run property damage, hit and run police vehicle, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest.
