Repairs conducted earlier Wednesday to the pool's pumps associated with last month's unexpected shut down created a similar cloudy condition, which is unsafe for swimming, officials said. As you may recall, the pool temporarily closed on 4th of July due to a similar issue.
Officials said there is again a layer of fine sand on the bottom that the vacuums are cleaning, and it takes time. They said with this fine layer of sand on the bottom they have significant clarity issues, and stirring it around would make it worse.
Chemical levels are fine and the pool has always been safe, officials said. They stress they need to work with the pumps to fix this issue permanently.
Crews will continue to work on the situation and said they will return the pool to operation as soon as it's safe.
