WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barracks responded to 48 Hampton Place for reports of an assault. It happened on Sunday around 5:55 a.m.

When troopers arrived, they found several people who had just returned from a party. A man, identified as James Edward Crouch was arguing with another woman who just returned from the same party.

During the argument, police say Crouch grabbed a black handgun from his bedroom drawer, pointed it at the woman and threatened to shoot her.

The woman fled from the house and called 911. Further investigation revealed the gun was actually an "Airsoft" pellet gun. However, the orange safety tip was painted black to act like a firearm.

Crouch was arrested and has been charged with first degree assault.
