Man Arrested on Drug Charges in Traffic Stop

- FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick Police Department arrested a local man on numerous drug charges after the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over for a traffic violation. 

The incident happened around 2:08 p.m. Friday, May 2 in the 100 block of W. South Street. 

Police observed a vehicle failing to stop at the stop line at W. South Street and S. Market Street. After pulling the vehicle over, a K-9 sniff of the vehicle was conducted a yielded a positive alert for drugs. 

Upon further investigation police found marijuana, a hypodermic needle, scale and grinder.

Police discovered the items belonged to the rear seat passenger, Omari Claude Samms of Heather Ridge Drive. Samms is charged with possession of controlled paraphernalia, possession of paraphernalia X2, and possession of marijuana.
