FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - The Frederick County Bureau of Investigations is investigating an officer-involved shooting.
The incident happened on East B Street in Brunswick just after 10 Wednesday night.
911 dispatchers say they received a call for a domestic assault in progress. Officials say the caller let police in the house and that she said her husband, Charles Dinterman was intoxicated and upstairs. Police say when they went upstairs, they found the man in a hallway holding a revolving style gun. Police say an officer with the Brunswick City Police fired six rounds at Dinterman, striking him several times.
Dinterman was taken to the University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment. Officials say the man has had surgery and is in critical condition.
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says no Brunswick officers were injured. The officer who fired the rounds is on paid administrative leave at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation.
