Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Hagerstown Murder

- WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - A man charged in connection to the murder of a 26-year-old in his Hagerstown apartment last year learned his fate Monday in Washington County Circuit Court.

Eduardo Gonzalez was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and to a charge of using a handgun in a crime of violence.

As we've reported, Steven O'Brien was robbed and shot to death in his apartment on Randolph Avenue last April.

Although prosecutors say another man, Cory Usher, was the one who pulled the trigger, they say Gonzalez was part of the plan to kill O'Brien.

In court, they argued the murder weapon belonged to Gonzalez, although not formally registered to him. Court officials say he will be eligible for parole in five years.
