Man Wanted in Florida Captured in Allegany County

ALLEGANY COUNTY, Md. - A man wanted in Florida on numerous charges was found and captured Tuesday night in Rawlings, Maryland. 

Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office say on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 around 10 p.m. they responded to a home located on Cool Breeze Drive in Rawlings at the request of the Baker County Sheriff's Office in Florida. 

According to Florida authorities, Phillip Arnold Bennett III, 26, of Jacksonville, Florida, was possibly at the residence. He was wanted on two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, and trespassing while armed. 

Deputies say they searched the home and found Bennett hiding under a bed. He was arrested without incident and transported to District Court where a fugitive from justice warrant was applied for and served on Bennett. 

Bennett was ordered to be held without bond and taken to the Allegany County Detention Center. He's currently awaiting extradition to Florida.
