WAYNESBORO, Pa. - According to police, a Waynesboro woman left her two children unattended on Mother's Day while she drank at a local bar.

On Sunday, May 11, 2014 around 11:55 p.m. police responded to 13 East Seventh Street where they located a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old outside the residence crying.

The incident has left neighbors in disbelief.

"You can't just leave you're kids like that. They need guidance they have to be watched, like you can't just roll out on your kids," said Eva Moats, a local mother of one.

A neighbor said she woke up in the middle of the night to children crying and immediately called Waynesboro Police. Authorities arrived at at the home and said no adults were there.

Several neighbors offered blankets and care to the children during the incident. The mother of the children eventually returned while officers were on the scene.

"That's awful. That's terrible. I can't imagine how you can do that to your kids," said Sarah Hills, a local mother of one.

Police have not yet released the identity of the mother, but say charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, are pending.
