WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - The mother of a Washington County girl who was missing for nearly 12 hours last month is now facing child abuse charges.

According to deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the 47-year-old woman is charged with neglect of a minor and second-degree abuse in reference to an episode on February 24, 2014 that allegedly happened before the child ran away.

As you may recall, the 10-year-old girl was found lying under leaves near Cardinal Avenue and Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown, after being outside all night. Police said her parents told them she was not wearing shoes, or a coat when she left home.

The mother is also facing one count of child abuse in the second degree from an unrelated incident on June 21, 2013.

The mother was being held at the Washington County Detention Center, before posting bond.
