BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. - Multiple units responded to a car accident Wednesday afternoon along Route 9 in Berkeley County.

The call came in around 3 p.m. along Route 9 at GM Access Road, near the 1100 block of Hedgesville Road. At this time we know several vehicles were involved in the crash.

Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department, Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Company, and Berkeley County Ambulance Authority responded to the call.

Dispatch tells us the eastbound lanes of Route 9 were shut down, but the roadway has since reopened around 3:59 p.m. Wednesday.

According to witnesses on scene, traffic was blacked up in the area for over 30 minutes and some could not get on to Interstate-81.

No word yet if anyone was transported to the hospital, or the severity of their injuries.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
