“This is the first time were having Gubernatorial Primary in June, so we don't know what exactly to expect in turn out, so we hope it's good,” said Stuart Harvey, director of the Frederick County Board of Elections.
It’s not just election officials, but also Frederick County residents who are encouraging their neighbors to cast their ballot.
“Get out there, again it's your opportunity to be part of it, you know you can't cry about it if you don’t go out there and do something about it,” said Frederick County resident, Clarence Duckett.
Election officials say all registered voters will be receiving a sample ballot with information about the changes coming as Frederick County moves to a charter government.
“It will tell voters what district they are voting in,” said Harvey.
Voters can also find information on the new legislative or county council districts on this map online or by simply typing in their address on the Frederick County government website.
Election officials say while it’s not a presidential election, there are still many races and candidates to vote for.
“You’re choosing your candidates for everything from governor to county executive, to clerk of the court, to sheriff and the board of education. All voters vote in the board of education Primary,” said Harvey.
Frederick County is looking for volunteers to help out at polling locations. You can find out more by calling the Board of Elections at (301)-600-8683.
