Doolittle says she’s been a teacher at Hillcrest for 11 years now and teaches Pre-Kindergarten. She says she was one of 60 competing to take home the title this year, and the decision was the result of an extensive process.
Doolittle says Frederick County has many talented teachers, and she's proud to work for the school system and be this year’s teacher of the year.
“There was a pool of 60 nominees and we went through a very long process of writing essays, and doing phone interviews and in-person interviews. I was selected as the one teacher, so [it’s] very exciting,” said Erin Doolittle. “I love teaching because the kids are so engaged and love to come to school and learn new things. I love building relationships with families and teaching students to learn, and parents how to be involved in their Children's education.”
The announcement was formally made by FCPS on Tuesday. Tuesday was also Teachers Appreciation Day.
