THURMONT, Md. - Elections took place Tuesday in Thurmont, Md. for the town's non-partisan elections.

Officials say John Kinnaird took home 716 of the 839 votes to become Thurmont's next mayor. Kinnaird was running against Rosie Bentz.

Martin Burns and Wayne Hooper were also elected and will sit on the town's Board of Commissioners.

Election officials say they used touchscreen ballots this election due to a higher than normal turnout of about 30 percent.
