DB Schenker and Quality Associates are now out in the community looking to fill the positions.
“DB Schenker will be staffing the distribution component of the facility and Quality Associates is looking to hire workers that will work on the construction of display units that will be used in various stores,” said Michael Ross, president of the Franklin County Area Development Corporation.
Ross says the distribution component will call for nearly 950 positions, while the Quality Associates will bring about 250 jobs to the facility. P&G says five of the jobs at the site will be current employees of the company. It’s good news for some residents.
“I think it's great if it brings as many jobs as they say it's going to bring. They will need to put more traffic lights in,” said one Shippensburg resident.
Local officials say they are excited to see the construction of the facility happen as quickly as it is, and do expect some traffic lights to pop up soon.
“We do know the traffic light that is going in at the facility will be coming online within the next 30 days,” said Sam Cressler, Southampton Township Supervisor.
It’s a project many are giving the green light, and looking forward to its opening expected this September.
“A project like this will have long term ramifications, it represents a $100m plus investment in the community and we also believe it has a catalectic impact on future development in the Cumberland Valley, really,” said Ross.
